In more severe cases, scoliosis surgeries called spinal fusion and instrumentation can be performed to treat the deformity. For surgery, the spine curve usually needs to be more than 45 degrees.
If the child's daily life has started to be seriously affected due to scoliosis and the quality of life has decreased due to pain, surgical methods offer very effective results. During these procedures, the doctor realigns the affected areas of the spine and stabilizes it with the help of metal rods. It is enough to stay in the hospital for a few days after the operation; full recovery occurs within 1 – 2 months.
