Even fasting, which is carried out in accordance with the rules, has beneficial results in patients. For example, in hypertension patients, fasting with the condition of continuing their medications leads to a decrease in blood pressure and general weakening. The important thing here is to fast by taking cardiovascular health into account, that is, to continue the medications used without interruption and to eat right during iftar-sahur. However, heart patients should definitely take the decision to fast in consultation with the physician who monitors them and act in accordance with his recommendation. Because in many patients, drug therapy will have to be rearranged and dose adjusted again while fasting. Changes in nutrition and sleep patterns during fasting can affect the condition of heart patients. For this reason, heart patients who want to fast should consult their doctor first. In general, heart patients whose condition is under control can fast by regulating the hours of medication intake in accordance with the recommendations of their doctors and following some nutritional rules.
But with heart patients who are not under control, in the last 1 month:
*He had a heart attack
*A stent is inserted into the coronary vessels
*Bypass surgery has been performed
* Patients who have been hospitalized due to heart failure should not fast. Heart patients should pay attention to the following issues while fasting:
* Attention should be paid to adequate and balanced nutrition during the month of Ramadan.
*Meals during Ramadan should be arranged as two main meals during sahur and iftar, and two at intervals of 1-1.5 hours after iftar.
*Patients should not eat very quickly at iftar. This condition negatively affects the heart and vascular system.
*Patients should continue the salt and water intake restrictions they pay attention to in their daily lives in the same way.
*Cooking methods of meals are also very important during Ramadan. Especially grilled, boiled, and baked dishes should be preferred, roasted, smoked and fried foods should be avoided.
